While the characters in the first movie were interesing and funny, in this one they're just ridiculous. The script is not even as half as good as the first movie. This is full of cringy moments and cliches that I couldn't take anything seriously or feel sympathy for any of the characters. This is not good. The only things I liked about it were a couple of very clever jokes, and that little Oldboy reference.

Writer and director Isaac Ezban is a huge fan of TV series "Lost". Not only a fan, he's actually obsessed with it. He has stated in many interviews he truly believes "Lost" was not only the greatest TV series ever, but also one of the greatest stories ever told. He even used to dress as the characters (together with his wife and producer Miriam Mercado) every time "Lost" had a season final aired, from 2004 and until 2010. And he used to hang out with a group of friends in someone's house after each episode to write theories and notes. Therefor, he decided to put many, many references to "Lost" in his first feature film "The Incident", and since usually "Lost" fans are really referential people (fans of any kind of references, about anything), as the TV show itself featured many references to certain comic books, novel or movies of popular culture, Ezban always hoped that this would be another reason why "Lost" fans could dig into his film. However, although the film is full of "Lost" references, the story is completely original and unlike anything out of "Lost" (his goal was to create an original universe, not related to "Lost" or anything else at all, but with a lot of geeky references to "Lost"). Some of the references include: 1) The general way on which the story is told and portrayed (altering between different realities, times and scenarios), without the audience knowing the explanation for why this strange phenomenon is happening, until the very end. 2) The title if the film itself ("The Incident" is also the title of the season finale of the 5th season of "Lost", and a concept that was mentioned a lot during all that season) 3) The tattoo that the character of Carlos has on is neck that can be seen on one of the first scenes and says "Late Fate" (same words that were formed by the letters that the character of Charlie from "Lost" had tattooed on his fingers) 4) The license plate from the van that reads OCA - 815 (Oceanic Airlines 815, airline and flight number from the fallen plane from "Lost"), 5) The billboard on the road that reads "Jacob's Cabin" 6) The graffiti on that same billboard that reads "Penelope, I love you" (Penelope is the name of Desmond's wife from "Lost"), 7) The jump suit that Daniel wears as a grown up on the road segment is very similar that Desmond and everyone from The Dharma Initiative used to wear on "Lost" 8) That same jump suit has the name "Hugo" on it 9) The convenience store next to the gas station on the road segment is called "The Pearl" (just like one of the Dharma stations from "Lost") 10) The character of Carlos, when he's about to die on the stairs, says "maybe I'm already dead" 11) The fact that there's a huge cameo to a book on a film (Philip K. Dick's "Time out of joint", something they used to do a lot in "Lost" episodes) 12) This one is very geeky: the book that Daniel is reading as a teenager in the small segment of the alternate lives sequence at the end of the film when he's studying for his profession (called "Basic guide for criminal research") is written by the fake author "James F. Sawyer" (James Ford is the real name of the character nicknamed "Sawyer" in "Lost") and, well, there are many, many more (we can't simply spoil all of them on this post). Ezban always dreamed of someone writing an article on a certain blog commenting about all the references, but he though that might take years to come. That's why he was extremely happy and surprised when, just at the world premiere of the film, the first public screening, at Fantastic Fest (Austin, Texas) on September 2014, a lot of questions in the Q&A commented on the "Lost" references, and for days to come, during all the festival, a lot of people approached Ezban with theories that related the film to "Lost" (asking if maybe The Dharma Initiative was behind the incidents of the film, and stuff like that). Ezban never dismissed nor accepted any of the theories. The first article mentioning the "Lost" references (with images and all) came out only a few hours later, written by Adam Hartley from Horror Movies Uncut. 2ff7e9595c
